We checked 24 buying searches on US Google. Reddit is on page one for 22 of them and #1 on 8. Half the threads holding those slots are archived. Claude and ChatGPT name Infisical in every “which secrets manager” answer, and in 1 of 12 answers about the jobs you now sell.
US Google, desktop, 2026-10-12. Every one of the 24 returned an AI Overview. Thread figures are upvotes / comments.

Infisical’s own pages are on page one for 14 of the 24 searches and in the top 3 for 9. The alternatives posts do the work: #1 for doppler alternative, #2 for aws secrets manager alternative and hashicorp vault pricing, #3 for hashicorp vault alternative and akeyless alternative. Two threads stopped at a 20-page comment cap (85 of 102 and 140 of 175 comments read), so the counts there are a floor.
Reddit archives threads after six months unless a sub turns that off, and an archived thread takes no new comments. Infisical is absent from 7 of the 10 open threads. The only way into an archived slot is a newer thread good enough for Google to rank instead.
Users bring Infisical up unprompted in the newest threads. The team doesn’t need to start these conversations. It needs to be in them with something more useful than a link.
Two big live threads are about .env files but aren’t buying conversations: r/sysadmin “A senior dev overwrote .env and took down website” (779 / 236) and r/SaaS “Someone is trying really hard to get the .env file!” (2,271 / 317). No secrets manager is named in the 121 and 172 comments we read. A practice answer fits there; a product pitch would not.
ChatGPT likes you: “Infisical is my first pick for a close replacement” (Doppler alternatives), “I’d shortlist Infisical and OpenBao” (self-hosting), and Infisical is first on its AWS Secrets Manager shortlist. Then the question changes from the category to the job:
Share .env files across a team
Kubernetes secrets
AI agents and API keys
An internal certificate authority
Rotation and dynamic database credentials
Stop keys leaking into git
The AI Overviews leave Infisical out the same way: open source pki (EJBCA, step-ca, OpenXPKI, Dogtag, XiPKI, cert-manager, Boulder), internal certificate authority (AD CS, step-ca, SecureW2), openbao vs vault, secrets management for ai agents, and dynamic secrets, which names Vault and Akeyless while citing Infisical’s own docs page. PKI, Agent Vault, dynamic secrets, the Kubernetes operator and Radar don’t show up when a buyer asks about the job.
Highlighted = where the ranking threads live.
Each answer describes the setup, not the product. Two or three threads a week at most, from an account with history. Stay out of the r/netsec “Critical RCE Alert: Full takeover of HashiCorp Vault and OpenBao” thread (2026-09-29), and keep product links out of the r/sysadmin and r/SaaS .env story threads. The accurate wording is “MIT core, with ee/ under a separate license”, never “fully open source” or “not open source”.
Method. 24 buying searches on live US Google, desktop, one pull on 2026-10-12. Reddit threads read directly, up to 20 pages of comments each, 119 threads in all. 12 questions to Claude and ChatGPT, one sample each, answered from memory with no web search. Not included: search volume and traffic. “Open” is Reddit’s archived flag; check each thread by hand before posting, since a thread can also be locked or removed.
